~Day 89: I waited for you, Mom.

I was out visiting teaching tonight until late (sometimes you just can't put a time limit on your visits.  And 3 hours is not that long.. really)  So I get home tonight after 10pm, and Cailee's light is on. This is how I found her. She had fallen asleep waiting for me.   Breaks my heart a little, knowing she was waiting. But at the same time, it melts my heart knowing she wanted me to tuck her in.
She is such a sweetie.

~Day 88: Bribery

Cailee was asking daddy to come help her ride her bike today. He initially said no. But she turned on her charm, all on her own mind you. She gave him hugs and kisses and said "please daddy!"
How can you say no to that?

~Day 87: Games with Dad

Ashton was  over at a friend's house tonight. It was fun to have some time with just the girls.  We are playing a dice game where you pass your tokens right, center, or left, depending on what showed up on the dice you rolled.  It is fun and easy enough for the little ones to understand.  It was a fun night.

~Day 86: Bunco #3 with 'Sa!

It was that time again.  So  much fun tonight.  I wasn't really 'feeling' it today, so i didn't know that I really wanted to go.  Glad I did.  It was some much-needed girl time.  Thanks Alissa for a fun night!

~Day 85: Little Achiever

Cailee received an award at school for her academic achievements last quarter.  They needed to meet or exceed certain goals by quarter's end.  All of a sudden things have begun to 'click' with her and she is getting excited about learning.  It is fun to see her get so excited about her progress!

~Day 84: Driving toward the storm

A storm blew in today.  First Haboob of the year I think. I love to see the cloud of dust as I'm driving into it.  It also leaves a nice backdrop for my extremely professional picture of the Temple from my car.

~Day 83: Smite

Ashton loves computer games.  He concentrates very hard a lot of the time.  His very favorite is a game called "Smite."  It's a game containing MANY mythological creatures.  He loves playing it and then telling us all about what Gods or Goddesses used in the game.  I think this is an outlet for his love of mythology.

~Day 82: Good friends

The girls were decorating paper before they turn them into airplanes.  They are also both wearing boots that are about 5 sizes too large.  They love to play dress-up together.  It was just cute how they were both coloring on the floor and kept swinging their feet the same.  They sure love each other!

~Day 81: Shopping Buddies

The girls needed new flip-flops.  So we went shopping today to find some.  Of course they wanted the sparkly ones or the pink ones...very girly.  I think they had fun choosing.

~Day 80: Frozen Arizona

Tonight the kids' school had a movie night.  The kids really wanted to go.  They showed "Frozen" in the gym on a big screen.  We took blankets for them to sit on, while Nick and I sat on the chairs we brought.  The school provided the popcorn as part of our entrance fee.

We were surrounded by a bunch of noisy kids, and had one kid next to us with VERY smelly feet.  The kids had a good time... even tho the picture makes them look like Demon Children.  They weren't that bad :) It was a fun night.

~Day 79: To Mom From BrookLynn

I had a place to be tonight, so I wasn't home when it was time for the kids to go to bed.  I came home to this note sitting on my computer.  She put it there to make sure I saw it. What I saw melted me heart a little more and I had tears start to well up in my eyes.

I need to translate because it's hard to see.

To: Mom  From:  BrookLynn
Mom-You are the best mom i could ever have <3
Love,
BrookLynn <3

How does that not pull at your heartstrings?

~Day 78: Should be sleeping

I confess--I asked him to pick up his book so I could take a picture.  But in my defense, he had been reading only a few minutes before and he really should have been trying to go to sleep.  I love my little bookworm.

~Day 77: Pack Meeting Fun

Tonight was Pack Meeting for Ashton's scout troop.  Ashton was part of the skit about "The Invisible Bench" where three boys were pretending to sit on a bench.  Ashton came along and asked why they were sitting there and told them he moved the bench against the other wall.  Clever boys.  And BrookLynn won the prize for remembering what items were taped to the board before it was turned around so we couldn't see it. (she had some help from daddy and mom's awesome picture-taking skills where she captured a pic of said board)  The kids had a fun night.

~Day 76: Green with Envy?

From green blobs to green... things.  I had a great idea for St. Patrick's Day today.  I thought it would be fun if the kids helped make green cookies.  Yeah... I ended up making them all by myself.  But they will partake of the finished product I'm sure...

~Day 75: Help me please!

Cailee asked daddy to help fix her toy car.... for the hundredth time.  The thing can't stay fixed for some reason.  Such a nice dad.

~Day 74: Crazy Kids

I made the kids stay away from the electronics for most of the day.  It was fabulous.  They played outside for a big part of the day and they also played in their rooms together.  Here they were all playing legos.  I came in to take a picture and they decided to be crazy for the shot.  Love these kids!

~Day 73: Well hello, Loki.

Yes, I needed another picture tonight.  Not feeling very inspired.   Loki is on the TV screen.  Seemed like a good thing to take a picture of.  He is, after all, my favorite character from these comic book movies... can't go wrong with Loki, can you?

~Day 72: Generous Heart

Cailee found some money today and gave it to Nick.  Then she told us that she gave it to us so that we could go do something fun with it.  We could also use it for a surprise.  She is the most generous little girl I have ever known.  She is always giving people things and saying the sweetest things just because.  I need to learn from my little 5-yr-old and try to be more like her.

~Day 71: Needed a picture.

Desperation at its finest.  You get to see how long my hair is getting.   You are welcome.

~Day 70: See the pink cheeks?

Why, yes.  Yes I do.
How did he get the pink cheeks?  Swimming outside, of course.
And what month is it?  March.  Hmm...
Yes.  Swimming.  Outside.  March.  Arizona.
Want a tissue to wipe your eyes?
I would cry too if I couldn't swim in March.
Outside.

~Day 69: Happy bday......

...Ashton! Only a month and a half late. He wanted to go to Golden Corral for his bday dinner. We never made it, so he talked us into going tonight.  The highlight for the two older ones was to eat lemons plain. Eww.   The kids loved it tho. It was fun together as a family.

~Day 68: She asked to go....

Cailee asked to go to bed.  She gave daddy a hug and then Nick carried her to bed.  She does this quite often where she asks to go to bed without us telling her to and I love it!

~Day 67: Fun Saturday

The day started out with Nick and me taking a walk while the kids rode their bikes.  It was a beautiful day and he made me get out of bed before noon to go see it... glad he did.  It was fun to get outside with the family.

The day ended with a fun BBQ at a friend's house.  Lots of friends, food and fun.  It was so good to sit and talk with the adults while the kids ran around and had fun.  Great way to end the day!

~Day 66: Tea Party

BrookLynn and Cailee made sure there as enough room for everyone to have tea with them this afternoon.  They spent a long time playing together!

~Day 65: It's time..

I loved my flower so much.  But I think it is time to let them go. It's only been a few...weeks?

~Day 64: Jealous?

This is my night.  Scrabble and NCIS.  I would be jealous of NCIS.

~Day 63: Fort

The girls decided to build a fort in the living room.  It was mainly for their stuffed animals to sit on the top...

~Day 62: Literacy Night

The school had literacy night and they transformed different rooms into themes.  Ashton chose the ocean room for his first stop.  The teachers did a good job at making a fun experience for the kids.  His next stop was to hear an author read part of his book.  We listened to Douglas Pershing read an excerpt from "Shifters."  It was fun to listen to.  Ashton was interested, so we bought the book and got it signed.  He came home and read many pages before bed.  I love that he enjoys books so much!  And he was thrilled that it was signed!

~Day 61: Such a happy girl

I made Cailee get her hair cut.  She was not so happy with me.  She only had about 2 inches cut off, but her hair is so thick, it constantly gets tangled.  It is easier for now to have it short.  When she was finished, she said thank you because she likes it short.  You can tell she does from this picture.

~Day 60: Cute Girls

Action shot of them doing sit-ups at gymnastics today.  Cailee was able to go and it was fun to see both girls running and jumping around.  When we left, Cailee asked if we could sign her up for gymnastics.  We shall see....
