~Day 216: Back to School

First day of school.  I think they were all excited.

5th grade! He's not serious about school at all...

2nd grade.  I love the band-aids on her legs... they were helping keep her bug bites from itching, she said. They added to her favorite dress.

1st grade.  The baby.  I think I'm having a harder time this year than I did last year when she went to Kindergarten.  Maybe it's because I'm realizing my kids keep getting bigger... and our 'firsts' are going by too quickly.

And this was my favorite picture.  I picked up Ashton's book bag to make sure he had everything in he needed, and it weighed a ton.  I proceeded to open every zipper pocket he had.  I pulled out TWELVE books that he planned on taking with him to school.  He likes to have a variety of things to read... but not 12 books worth.  I told him he could take two.  I said he wouldn't have enough time to read them all anyway.  He told me when he got home that he actually did have time.  Really.  He did.  But he still can't take more than two books to school... he would hurt his back!

The kids came home with stickers on their shirts telling us it was their school's night at Coldstone.  We never go to these things, but I thought it would be fun.  It was a learning experience.  I hadn't been in years, and the kids didn't know what we were doing.  We got WAY too much ice cream, but they had fun.

Glad the summer is over.  It was fun, but now I'm glad to get back to a more regular schedule.  They are happier in school too.  More to keep them occupied during the day.
