~Day 309: Let Them Eat Cake. And S'mores.

Ok, I'll admit it.  I had a birthday today.  I'm 21. Maybe it is 29.  I ran out of fingers and toes to count on.  It was a nice surprise to come into work today and find a cute card and candy apple from my cute co-workers (and I forgot it and left there because it was 6 PM when I finally got out of there.  I'll just say I left it there on purpose so i could enjoy it at my desk.  It better be there when I get in there tomorrow).   Jean also dropped off some 'flowers' that I can't kill.  How did she know?  And my hubby surprised me by sending me flowers that I don't have to try to keep alive.  My favorite kind!  They are beautiful.  This is as decorated as my cube has ever been.  Maybe I need to have birthdays every day...

Janell found out it was my birthday today.  We already planned on going to lunch together today and I didn't realize what day it was.  She offered to buy me lunch, which was great! We went to Fuddruckers.  I hadn't been to one in probably 15 years.  It was a great break from work and a nice birthday gift.

Tonight we had a bonfire with our neighbors, the Kerrs.  Today happens to be be the British Guy Fawkes day. (you know, the guy who tried to blow up parliament in 1605) It was fun to learn about Guy Fawkes why we roasted lil' smokies and marshmallows over the fire.  Kristie (the mom) was so cute and brought cookies to share, and a candle.  They sang happy birthday to me and then I blew out the candle.  And baby Ginger was making sure her mom wasn't too far away.

Mr Fawkes, himself.  He looks good, considering he is about to be thrown onto the fire.  (i'm not going to go into the history lesson here.  That's what Google is for)

Ashton and Garren were chosen to toss Mr. Fawkes onto the fire.  I think they enjoyed it a little too much...

The fire got quite toasty warm.  Thank you, sir.  It was a very fun evening!  Nick asked if I wanted to go to dinner tonight (there are a lot of places around here who give you discounts if you come in on your birthday.)  But the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of spending the evening with the whole family.  I'm glad I did.  This was better than any free food would have been.

The kids look so THRILLED to pose for another picture.  I wanted to show what the kids did for me.  They each made me a card and I loved each one!
I asked for two things for my birthday.  A cake.  And new NON-STICK pans.  Yes.  I am that exciting.  And yes.  I was that excited!!  We haven't had new pans for years!  This is just about as exciting as when we bought our new vacuum a few years ago... and no, there is no sarcasm there.  I really am excited!

Ahh.  My chocolate cake.  It was almost too pretty to cut into.  My hubby is great.  Thank you, Nick!

I had another surprise when i got home today.  My visiting teachers had dropped off cupcakes for me.  They are yummy, and yes I will share.  I also had many, MANY birthday wishes today and got to speak to all my siblings, who are spread out and far away from me.  Or am I far away from them?  Either way, we aren't in the same states.
I love them so much!

It was a great day.  And I'm not going to say how young I really am.  People are allowed to guess tho...
I might tell the truth.
