~Day 2• 96: Tales of a solo trip north... Part 1

The day started with my trip to the lovely MRI tube. It was great. Just follow up stuff for the tumor and MS crap.  I was so tense today that the last half of my scan consisted of me basically holding my head in one spot instead of resting comfortably... If you move, it messes up your scan so they have to do it over. I had so much on my mind that I just couldn't lay there and sleep like I normally do.  After I was done I felt like I had been working in front of my computer screen all day.

Next stop was breakfast at the Hen House Cafe with Nick's family before his parents flew back to Utah.  It was fun to get together one last time until we see them again. It was fun to have them here.

And then the real fun began.... Just me and three monkeys driving to salt lake. They were super hyper before we left. It took them awhile to calm down and kind of get into a routine of just sitting for hours... If you really can have a routine... It ended up being an enjoyable drive. We have a DVD player with two screen (really old) and it's hard to see the screens in the daylight. So the girls created a makeshift tent that covered their heads and the screens. Ashton got the inside shot for me... And he eventuality went to the back seat to sit under the tent too. The tent stayed up for probably 3 out of the 7 hour drive.... Not bad!

We stopped kind of halfway in kingman. The car needed a rest and food. And we needed a rest and food. There is a BK there with a play place and I let the kids exert some energy. Ashton certainly exerted some... He's the only one who fell asleep before it got dark. None of kids EVER sleep on road trips. Ever. So this was a rare site.

They really did good on the drive. But not as far to go tomorrow.

I'm lucky to have family spotted all over the place. My aunt Michelle and uncle Gene (my dad's brother) live outside St. George. I hit them up to crash at their house for the night and they are always so obliging. These two cuties were there when we finally showed up (I forgot about the time change and showed up at 10:30 instead of 9:30) they were great and made sure we had what we needed... Even tho we took over one of their sleeping quarters... Sorry Mckensirelly! ;) (and I know she was expecting that name to come out of my mouth sometime soon... It's been WAY too long since I said it last)

After my kids were in bed, I went in search of Melissa and Mckensy. I needed a picture to prove I really didn't just invite myself over when no one was home...

I sure love these girls! I'm glad our families were so close growing up. There is a pretty big age difference between me and them, but you would never know it. It's probably because I act like I'm 12 sometimes. Well, 13. But I love that we have a special bond with their family. I can't wait to see more of them this week :)
