~Day 2• 37: Look Who I Ran Into!

There I was, sitting in the front row.  Out walks this person who looks very familiar.  So familiar that every time she walks out on stage I just stare at her.  I decided I had to talk to her.  After the concert I flagged her down and asked if her name was Meredith.  (it was hard not to flag her down during intermission!) I took a chance, and I'm soooo glad I did!!  Small world!  Meredith and I were in the same ward when we lived in Provo.  She was going to the Y, (i think?) and I was at UVSC.  I got to know her pretty well while there, and then we both went our separate ways.  I believe that was in 1999.  I think I saw her one other time since then. (at Melanie's wedding??)  I found her on FB and it's been fun to see her posts.  But it was a great surprise to see her in person tonight!!  Doesn't she look great with her headset on?  It was fun to watch her take charge of the stage to get it all set up for each performance.  I loved seeing her!!

So why was I there?  I debated on going.  And literally last minute, I decided to go.   My sweet friend Kristie posted an upcoming concert that looked like it would be good.  It was An Evening with Mendelssohn, held at the Mesa Arts Center.  I read up on it and saw piano and symphony.  I love some of his music so I thought it would be nice.  There was a lot of chamber music.  I don't care for chamber music, but I was pleasantly surprised.  I think the highlights were the Rondo Capriccioso (solo piano) and the 2nd and 3rd movements of his Violin Concerto in E Minor.  The pianist was excellent!  I had a perfect view of his hands.  It was phenomenal!  and the violin-- not my instrument of choice, but I do love that concerto and the soloist was a 16 years old!  She was magnificent!  16!

It was great fun to fun into Kristie K, too!  (my neighbor across the street) She came upon me as I was purchasing my ticket, and we talked during intermission.  Then I saw her and her cute family outside, and had to get a picture.  If it wasn't for her, I never would have come tonight.  I never would have seen Meredith, and I never would have fell on my face.  That was the highlight.  I should have taken a picture of the stars as I looked up at them from the ground.  I admit this because I realized I can't blame everything on MS.  Dang.  Gravity does work.  Especially when you are looking at your phone and step off a curb you didn't see was there.

The Mesa Temple is very close to the art center.  I decided to drive by it.  I love the temples at night.  I couldn't resist driving toward it.

It was a great night! Great seeing friends and listening to great music.  So glad I decided to go... gravity check and all.
