~Day 2• 19: Happy school day off!

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., the kids were out of school today.  Nick took Ashton golfing this morning (more below).  So I took the girls out.  My day started with BrookLynn lying next to me, playing a game on the ipad.  The same game I was playing on my iphone.  It was quite enjoyable.  Then we all got ready and went to have lunch at Chick-fil-a.  When we walked into the building, there was a HUGE Hershey's chocolate bottle.  Anyone who knows Cailee, knows that she is a chocolate fanatic.  She likes to create chocolate-mania on her ice cream.  The girls thought this was fun.  It was a fun lunch together.

Next stop was to get Brookie's hair trimmed.  It was a very simple cut, so I didn't want to pay a lot.  She didn't have much cut off.  Just a couple of inches.  While I was up talking to the lady, Cailee had my phone and I found a few selfies on it... goofy kid.

Before the hair place, we stopped to get the car washed.  It needed it.  the girls were all smiles while we were in the washer.  They had their noses plastered on the windows as the brushes went along the window.  I'm glad they were so entertained in the car wash... We also hit a couple of stores.  Brookie wanted to spend the rest of her xmas money.  I'm not ashamed to admit that I love Goodwill.  Especially for books.  She wanted to buy a new book.  So I told her we were going to Goodwill to see if they had any.  She did find two.  And Cailee found two.  And I found two.  Books can be a bad habit.

Since she didn't spend all her money on one book from a 'real' bookstore, she had a little left and asked to go to Claire's to buy a necklace.  She found earings instead.  They were mustache earings.  They were really cute.  Cailee found some hair chalk on sale, so I allowed her to get that.  And the Brookie found a stuffed owl.  She knows aunt 'Sa loves owls and talked about getting it for her.  So we did.  Then we got some ice cream for the drive home before they went to piano lessons.  It was a fun day.

For Ashton's bday on Saturday, Nick told him that they were going to go golfing on Monday.  Real golf.  Not just to the driving range. Ashton had fun.  Aunt Alissa was able to go too.  Nick said he had some really good hits.  The highlight looks like the golf cart, though.  Nick said Ashton took off in it once... he and Alissa had to run him down.  Funny man.  Ashton did have a little excitement...his ball landed in the middle of some geese.  From what I hear, Ashton was a little nervous.  He was worried the geese were going to chase him... Nick didn't tell him that  they might lol I'm just glad they really left him alone... Ashton looks like he might like to keep up with golf.  We are exploring some options to keep him involved.

The end of the night consisted of the girls walking the new pet owl down to Aunt 'Sa.  Both girls have stuffed animals that are the same kind--the ones with the big eyes.  They loved that Aunt 'Sa now has one like them.

And books weren't the only thing we found at goodwill...robes.  We happened to find matching robes for the girls (they both have the same monkeys on them) and one for Ashton.  Believe it or not, it does get a little cold here.  Robes are nice.

Busy day.  Fun day.  Bedtime was lovely.
